Rocky Mountain Way

Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to travel to Colorado with 9 of my good friends from college and visit my old roommate who now lives out there. After months of planning, we were finally able to make the trip happen. The trip offered us the opportunity to reconnect with old friends, visit new places, and enjoy Colorado’s mountainous landscape. Flying out from different parts of the country (Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Florida), we coordinated to meet up at the absolutely enormous Denver airport and started our adventure. We got an Airbnb in Fraser and decided to go to Winter Park which was around 10 minutes from where we were staying. We spent the first day at Winter Park, the next day exploring the area surrounding our Airbnb, and the final day at Winter Park again.

When we arrived at our Airbnb in Frasier, Colorado, the first thing we did was head to the nearest ski resort, Winter Park, to hit the slopes. We spent the afternoon skiing and snowboarding down the trails. It was such a fun atmosphere, and we all agreed that we would love to live in Colorado if we could.

The following day, we decided to head over to the sulfur hot springs. We went swimming in the natural reservoir, which was so relaxing. It was such a picturesque setting, and we loved spending time together outdoors in the beautiful Colorado weather. We spent the rest of the day shopping and exploring the area around our Airbnb. We ended the day with dinner at a local restaurant and a night out on the town.

On the last day, we decided to head back to Winter Park to ski some more, and this time we decided to ski down the cirque. It was such an exciting moment for me since I had never snowboarded at such a high altitude before (~12,000 feet above sea level); having to take multiple ski lifts and a sled to bring us there. When I say this was the steepest hill I’ve ever been down, I mean it. Taking long and wide turns, we finally made it to the base of the mountain, completely out of breath.

We spent the rest of the day skiing and having fun together. It was great spending time with my friends from college, and I enjoyed snowboarding in Colorado. A few of us had flights at the same time so we called a cab and got driven to the airport and flew back to our respective states. We all agreed that we would all like to ski in Colorado again but the highlight of my trip was reconnecting with old friends.
